Designer Registration
The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Inc. is partnering with SOMArts to present the 12th version of “Project Nunway” on May 2, 2026. Project Nunway is a fashion show featuring local designers that create a look for an individual member of the Sisters to walk the runway. It’s a design competition with cash prizes and we are currently recruiting fashion designers to enter. The competition is open design professionals, hobbyists, and fashion students. This year’s theme is “FUNERAL”. “We’re putting the FUN back into Funerals!”,says event producer Sister Zsa Zsa Glamour. “We expect the entries to be humorous, irreverent, and befitting the image of a 21st century queer nun,”
The original inspiration for the Project Nunway came from a scene in Fellini’s 1972 film “Roma” featuring a Vatican fashion show, and fashion reality shows like Project Runway.
To fit the “Funeral” theme, examples of designs can symbolize or represent:

The deceased.
-
An officiant of a funeral.
-
An attendee of a funeral.
-
Any other creative representation of the past, present or future concept of “Funeral”.
We prefer that all creations utilize REUSED, RECYCLED, or UNCONVENTIONAL materials. To be fair to all entries, we suggest a budget of $0 to $200 (but we won’t be strict about it.) Any costs involved should be negotiated between the designer and the Sister assigned to them, as well as who gets to keep the outfit after the show.
The San Francisco Order of Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence spans a wide range of ages, sizes and genders. To help us match you with the right person, please include a few photos of your past work, and give us a description and/or sketch of your concepts for “Funeral” along with your contact information.
As a new addition to the show, Project Nunway will also allow fashion students and to present their own fashions in separate runway segments.
Student Designer Segment
We anticipate a great number of entries from student designers! The best entries will be assigned to a Sister for the main runway segment, but the rest of the student entries can participate in a special runway segment of all students. In this segment, the student can either wear their own creation on the runway, or recruit their own models to wear it. There will be prizes awarded to the Best Student entries.
