San Francisco is full of sexy cyclists commuting for work and play. We’re lucky to live in a city that makes it fun and easy to get around on two wheels. The Sisters want to make sure San Francisco cyclers get around safely and smoothly, so we’re offering you some nunly biking wisdom.
Bring the Disco with You
Did you know that a front light on your bicycle is required by law? It’s true! California Vehicle Code 21201 states that all cyclists must have a white light on the front of their bike at night, and The Sisters think that adding a back red light will make you even more dazzling. Those lights will keep you visible to cars and pedestrians, and get you safely to that late-night dance party!
Haute Couture Helmet
Fashion is of paramount importance, but The Sisters are even more concerned with protecting our precious noggins. Wearing a helmet may mess up your hair, but it’s a small price to pay to keep your brains where they belong if you hit the pavement. One study showed that riders who wear helmets are 85% less likely to get a head injury!
You can make your helmet work for you by customizing it so you’ll never be just another head in the crowd. Whether it’s a few tastefully placed crystals, or a craft explosion free-for-all, your helmet can create a uniquely-you look while also making sure your uniquely-you head stays safe.

Cruise the Hottie Next to You, Not Through the Stop Sign
San Francisco is full of things to see and people to do, but there are only so many hours in a day. As you rush to get to work, or that hot new party, please make sure to STOP at stop signs and stop lights!
Bikes are treated like cars in California, so bicyclists have to follow all the same laws as drivers. Even though you think it’s harmless to roll on through that red light, keep in mind that if you hit a car or a pedestrian, you are FULLY responsible for damages, fines, and jail time you might incur. And getting to your next event is NEVER as important as your life, or the life of a pedestrian.
And while we have your attention, don’t forget that it’s illegal to ride on the sidewalk unless you’re under the age of 13 (or riding with a young’un). And while we know how great it is to have a soundtrack while you ride, make sure you keep one ear free of earbuds or headphones so you can hear the traffic around you (another law!).
