I remember hearing about the Sisters when I lived in Maryland from people that had lived in or visited San Francisco. I was intrigued but did not pursue anything until I met a Sister about a year after moving here and got the chance to talk to her about what the Sisters were all about. I felt an instant attraction to the group. Sponsor in the Order? Sister Kitty Catalyst, a loving, free-spirited, and guiding Sister that had the difficult task of mothering Sistah and myself at the same time (Kitty taught us everything we know about glamour!) Why did you join? I feel my reasons for joining are both selfish and selfless. I joined because I needed a sense of community in order to survive in a harsh city filled with strangers. I chose the Sisters because the work the Order accomplishes is so varied and wonderful - I can't think of another group that does such diverse work.
