Sister Lily White Superior Posterior Full Sister Name Sister Lily White Superior Posterior, S.P.I. Other Aliases Sister Superior Sybil Sadbitch La Savoir Faeire of the Sisters of Erotic Affirmation Lay Occupation Jack of all trades, mistress of nun. What a bourgeois question! Date Of Birth Under the sign of Aquarius, sometime in the 60s, C.E. Dare I say in the Year of the Rat? Hometown Denver and Buffalo Creek, CO. But, as they say, "home is where the heart is" and my heart (or what is left of it!) is in San Francisco. Date Joined The Order Denver Order: September 1981 (as founding Abbess) San Francisco Order: Novice, September 19, 1989; Fully Professed: April 3, 1990 When Did You Discover Your Calling? Here we go! Much like a fairy coming to bless a princess in a fairy tale, a nun came to visit me in the nursery ward soon after I was born. Well... as a child, I began dressing my dolls as nuns (resplendent with tonsures!). I would also put a tee shirt on my head "ever-just-so" and prance around in full piosity "like a nun." Childhood aspirations aside, I truly believe the phenomena of the Sisters to be a natural manifestation and answer to the social and spiritual needs of the human condition. The image of a priest/ess is sacred and is as ancient as society itself. Spiritually, I believe the Sisters are a reincarnation of the Galli — men who served the goddess Sybil as priestesses in pre-Christian and early post-Christian Europe. I consider myself a Priestess-nun/Sacred Jester/Bride of a christ. The goddess called, I answered. I have dedicated my life to serving her and I have been able to realize this through my work within the Order of Perpetual Indulgence. I actualized this vocation through contacting the Sisters in early 1981. They encouraged me to meet them at a Pecos, NM faerie gathering. I did so along with fellow members of Moon Root Coven (some of whom also became nuns). I returned to Denver with the Sisters' blessing and opened an order there, in conjunction with Sister Pious Peak of the Holy Mount who started the Colorado Springs House. I moved to SF in 1987 and joined the San Francisco Order not long after. Sponsor In The Order Sister Missionary Position, Muse to the Denver House. My Sponsor in the SF Order was Sister Vicious Power Hungry Bitch (yes, I drank directly from the font!). Major Projects In The Order Denver: • Featured cover story in "Out Front" magazine, December 1981 • "Mass Baptism" in Cheeseman Park fountains, Gay Day June 1982 San Francisco: • Officiating priestess for "Angels In White Face", June 1990 • Co-producer and mistress of ceremonies for the "High Mass Investiture", May 1991 • Mistress of Novices, 1992-94 and 2003 • Producer and mistress of ceremonies for "Dietsch Haus Grant Giveaway / St. Puce Awards", February 1993 • Performed mass marriages at "Bring Back the Lions" crusade, Easter 1993 • Marched in the National March on Washington, April 1993 • Co-producer and mistress of ceremonies Easter In The Park, Easter 1994 • Recipient of the coveted St. Puce Award, Easter 1994 • Producer of the "Most Holy Crusade" beer bust benefit, Lone Star Saloon, May 1994 • Mistress of ceremonies for the "Saint Miss P Birthday Benefit", April 1996 • Facilitated the S.P.I. contingent in the LGBT parade, June 1999 • "Witch-in-the-Ditch", May 2002 • Designer and executrix of the S.P.I. official wedding rings • Proud Mother and Sponsor of Sister Julia Sunbeam, Sister Hellina Handbasket, Sister Phatima la Dyke van Dick, Sister Penny Costal, Sister Sybil des Obedience, Sister Miracle Whip and Sister Edith Myflesh. Goals & Aspirations It is my dream to have a temple built to the Great Goddess and to have the Sisters serve as acolytes in the temple. Think grand... very Vestal Virgins! Religious Beliefs A heavy helping of Wicca and Eco-paganism, mixed with Radical Faerie "practice", Reconstrucionist Judaism and ancestor worship. Toss in Sacred Baroness drag-queen manifestation, a sprinkling of Native American beliefs, a smidgen of Buddhism, a dab of Quaker thought, the teensiest bit of Gnosticism and voila! What I call "Cauldron Faith" (in other words, a good all-around Jewish syncretist!). Rules By Which I Live I would not readily admit to living by rules, but, as Plato said, "once you've seen the light, it's hard to go back." « Return to Meet The Sisters page. |
